Hen House 02:35
I went down to the hen house to see what I could happen to see. I found my old chicken, Good old Martha, that hen of mine. Her nest was empty, there were no eggs to be found. So, I had to sit and wait for her to lay an egg down. I sang to her this song and she gave one brown egg to me. It just goes to show you nothing in this world is free. I took the egg to the kitchen and cracked it in a frying pan. This song's now over. So, don't ask for any bacon.

Banjo Love 04:01
we'll drink from a jar i'll show you my scars you hate the sound of the banjo i can't write a love song i've been loving for way too long all i can do is beat upon the banjo banjo love, it fits just like a glove banjo love, the bees just got to buzz makes me want to dance come on darling give it a chance still a plunky, grumpy song might be a love song i'll show you the stars we'll lay out in the yard i won't forget to bring along the banjo every bird's got a song beat on your clanging gong while i plunk upon my old banjo banjo love, it fits just like a glove banjo love, the bees just got to buzz makes me want to dance come on darling, give it a chance still a plunky, grumpy song might be a love song When you're young, a slow brooding melody may be all that it takes. A serenade for your lady fair is what gets her cake to bake. After some years, there's hair in your ears, love songs become inconvenient. Daily life, with its gives and its takes, is more of a social agreement. We've sure been through a lot, this is the best love song that I got. Like a cow appreciates grass, I'm thankful for you.

I saw a blood washed traveler In garments white as snow While traveling through the highway Where heavenly breezes blow I saw him in the conflict When all around was strife And wicked men and devils Convened to take his life I saw him cast in prison A dungeon dark as night And yet I heard him shouting The burden is so light Palms of victory Crowns of glory Palms of victory I shall bear I saw him taken from prison And chained unto the stake And yet, I heard him shouting It’s all for Jesus sake Palms of victory Crowns of glory Palms of victory I shall bear I saw the flame when kindled The blaze was burning bright And yet I heard him shouting The burden is so light Palms of victory Crowns of glory Palms for victory I shall bear I saw his soul departing It seemed the veil was rent And I could see the angels Which Jesus Christ had sent They bore him to the Savior The ever blessed one The brightest star in glory And Jesus said, well done

Judas 02:41
Old man Judas had a hill, on the outskirts of town. He built himself a gallows to hang himself from. With a kiss he sealed the deal, everything's got a price. Old man Judas felt so bad when the guards rolled them dice. A couple of nails and a butchered king to finish up the job. Old man Judas played hs part and from the rope he did bob.

The babies and mothers All wait in the car While dad takes a detour And drinks at the bar She might have been lonely But now she don’t care He’s usually quiet When he drives home impaired She used to get angry And they used to fight But she knows she can’t Keep this up every night The paycheck ain’t much And he sucks in what’s left Of what used to be love And a lifetime of debt Love is patient Love is kind Love is a martyr Love will give until it’s all gone Without a word But when it’s gone, don’t even bother To hope for something more Now last call is all curdled up in his gut And he finds his purpose in making abrupt Intersections to no one but those who might hear And those who might hear also had too much beer The whole building shook When his head hit the door It trembled again When he crashed on the porch His car would have broken his fall years before But nothing and no one Were there anymore Love is patient Love is kind Love is a martyr Love will give until it’s all gone Without a word But when it’s gone don’t even bother To hope for something more I still believe you were perfect in every way I still believe you were perfect in every way It lulls you to sleep Then it bites like a rattlesnake The deeper the teeth sink The better the dreaming Make up some excuse to get angry Then fire away It binds you to me Then it cuts like a razor blade Love is patient Love is kind Love is a martyr
