Pedal Down 03:46
Pedal down now It’s ninety more miles to Portland, Maine It’s getting darker now Got to find a place to lay my head Or maybe I’ll just keep going Push on up the coast I’m tired but I can’t sleep Afraid to stop my car My worries might catch up with me The past has been haunting me Since the Mass, New Hampshire line There’s something nice about feeling small Like you could so completely disappear There’s something safe about a big, big world It makes it easy when you just want to hide So, I’m driving on Think I’ll just fade into the night Think I’ll just fade into the night Going somewhere Don’t know where, it could be anywhere I guess I’ll end up Wherever this highway takes me It’s not that I’m running I just don’t want to be found I’m lost but I’ll be back by next week Afraid to stop myself I might catch up with me The past has been haunting me Since I let myself remember There’s something nice about feeling small Like you could so completely disappear There’s something safe about a big, big world It makes it easy when you just want to hide So, I’m driving on Think I’ll just fade into the night Think I’ll just fade into the night Think I’ll just fade into the night Think I’ll just fade into the night

Surprise Me 05:55
I got a letter from a friend of mine She said she was just thinking about me She was driving home on an overcast afternoon Underneath a canopy of fall leaves In life there are only a few guarantees The leaves will change every autumn In the springtime, they’ll return You wonder how you ever lived without them Have you ever had something happen That takes you by surprise Reminds you that you are alive And you do, you do indeed feel But me, I’m living from moment to moment One little surprise to the next Somehow you’re like the leaves Always changing but always there You always, yeah you always You always surprise me I called up a friend of mine Said I was just thinking about her I was driving home on a cool clear day Just thanking God for all my blessings Only a few things I know for sure I can’t wait to hold you again I can’t sleep when you’re not around You remind me that everything is ok Have you ever had something happen That takes you by surprise Reminds you, you are alive And you do, you do indeed feel I’m wanting to hold you close It’s surprising how safe you are I know we’re always changing I’m not worried, you’re always there You always, yeah you always You always surprise me You always, yeah you always You always surprise me
3.
I thought about writing you a poem With words like cherish and adore Too bad, I’m not a poet I thought about picking you some flowers I would put them in a vase with water Too bad, they would make me sneeze So, I’ll give you my hand It’s all I can afford to lose You can hold it as long as you want to This is the kind of song Makes you feel like crying and you don’t know why Reminds you, you’ve got no hand to hold It’s for all the lonely, lonely people out there Everybody feels lonely sometimes So, here is my idea I think all the people of the world who’s got no hand to hold Should get together and hold each other Hold each other Hold each other Hold each other Hold each other Hold each other Hold onto each other
