river jordan

from Judgement by Brother Jack

/

lyrics

the state came in 1908 and took my grandpap's farm
a handful of losses would surely save the masses
he watched his years rot away, he said he didn't need it all anyway

wash my feet in the rushing water, crossing the river jordan
dust of earth washes down the drain, crossing the river jordan
purified, sanctified, and baptized, crossing the river jordan

the old man loaded up the boatand waited for the rain
a flood leaves behind debris and it carries off the trash
water rises and the population is controlled

we have frail bones and rotten teeth
disease is like water, a flood's an epidemic
we're left with scars, scars and purity
